Dorothy Greer Scholarship

Overview
The Dorothy Greer Scholarship is available to Colorado high school seniors who meet the program’s publication and membership requirements. The primary award is a one-time gift of $3,000. A runner-up is often named and receives a single payment of $1,500. The scholarship must be claimed within two years of high school graduation; otherwise the award is forfeited.
Who is eligible
- Colorado high school seniors planning to continue their education at a junior college, college, or university.
- Students must have contributed for at least two years to one or more student media formats such as yearbook, broadcast, video media, web publication, newspaper, or newsmagazine.
- At least one of the student media outlets the applicant worked on must hold current membership in the Colorado Student Media Association (CSMA).
- The student’s adviser must be a JEA member (this is required by the national competition). Note: advisers may join JEA after a student has been announced as the first-place winner.
- Applicants should demonstrate both breadth and depth of media experience.
- Minimum cumulative GPA of 3.0.
Application process
All candidates must complete the online application form. The form will request required materials such as transcripts, links to portfolio work, personal essays, and other supporting documents.
