Betty Harlan Memorial Art Scholarship
Scholarship Sponsored by Community Foundation of Northern Illinois
Introduction
Betty was full of energy and constantly launching into new projects and hobbies. She participated in many visual art forms and delighted in sharing her work with others. This scholarship is intended to assist an individual who maintains an active creative spirit and takes pleasure in producing visual art.
Eligibility
Each CFNIL scholarship reflects the purpose or background of the donor or the person in whose memory the fund was established. To streamline the process, CFNIL uses a single online “universal” application. Applicants should submit ONE application per cycle — you do not need to choose which scholarships to apply for in advance. By answering a set of yes/no and personal background questions, the system will automatically identify every scholarship for which you qualify. Because these awards are meant to help learners across a wide range of ages and goals, everyone seeking scholarships — including high school graduating seniors and older applicants — is encouraged to apply.
Selection Details
Academic achievement will be considered with moderate weight during selection.
For this award, “visual arts” refers to creative works primarily experienced visually, including but not limited to painting, sculpture, and film.
Written Prompt
CFNIL scholarships are each established with a distinct objective. When your application is processed, the system will pair you with every scholarship that matches your profile and will generate a specific written prompt for each one. Applicants are encouraged to write a tailored response for each prompt to demonstrate to reviewers why they are an excellent fit for the scholarship.
