ASHBA Youth Scholarships
Scholarship Sponsored by American Saddlebred Horse Breeders Association
The American Saddlebred Horse and Breeders Association (ASHBA) has been providing scholarships to young enthusiasts of the American Saddlebred since 1991. The association has thus far distributed around $400,000 in scholarships. These scholarships are aimed at ASHBA members who are 21 or younger, in 11th grade or beyond, who can demonstrate a financial need and a commitment to the American Saddlebred industry, as well as a successful academic record and involvement in ASHBA youth programs.
The scholarships are awarded based on the evidence provided by applicants regarding their academic achievements, financial needs, involvement in extracurricular activities including community service, engagement with American Saddlebred horses, and personal references. An interview might also be a part of the selection process.
The scholarship application window opens each year on April 15 and closes on July 31. To be considered, applicants must submit their completed application form, an essay, their transcripts, tax information, and reference letters to the ASHBA office by the end of July of the year they wish to be awarded the scholarship. All materials, including reference letters, must be submitted along with the completed application.
